Innovation and Collaboration in Wellness
Aug.23-25, 2007 New Orleans, Louisiana
This educational forum was presented to state legislators versed in the areas of adolescent and adult wellness issues. Attendees learned from state and national experts in the areas of primary prevention strategies, creative partnerships developed to address chronic disease prevention, and economic and environmental changes. The conference agenda included a tour of New Orleans, with special emphasis on those areas hit hardest by Hurricane Katrina. The tour began with a presentation focusing on child care, school, housing and health care systems recovery. Following the briefing, legislators took a guided bus tour of the area that included site visits to a local school, a day care and a housing project.
