Serious illnesses avoided through vaccination, such as diphtheria and measles, are at an all-time low in the United States. So why is it still so important for the public to get immunized?
This free Web conference provided legislators insights on the critical role vaccinations play in the public's health, some of the concerns that parents have with vaccinations, and how other state leaders are handling those issues.
Speakers included:
- Betty Bumpers, vice president and co-founder, Every Child By Two
- Dr. Harry Hull, state epidemiologist, Minnesota
- Dr. Melinda Wharton, acting deputy director, National Immunization Program, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
